<p><em>Died:</em> August 16, 1786, Douay, France.</p>
<p class="just">A Catholic layman, Wade fled the Jacobean rebellion in 1745, settling in Douay, France.&nbsp; He&nbsp; taught music and copied plain chant and hymn manuscripts for private use.</p>
