<p><em>Died:</em> May 20, 1883, Brooklyn, New York.</p>

<p class="just">Vail was a hatter by trade, but wrote a large number of songs for <a href = "./hymns/hymns_bio/bio_p_h_phillips_p.html" >Phillip Phillips</a>, who was the first to publish Vail’s compositions. His works include:</p>
