<p class="just">Chadwick graduated from Harvard Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, in July 1864. He was ordained as minister of the Second Unitarian Church in Brooklyn, New York, that December. He was a frequent contributor to the <em>Christian Examiner</em>, <em>The Radical</em>, <em>Old and New</em>, and <em>Harper’s Magazine</em>, and published numerous poems in American periodicals.</p>
