<p><em>Born:</em> October 8, 1882, Richmond, Virginia.</p>
|
|
<p><em>Died:</em> April 23, 1969, Alexandria, Virginia.</p>
|
|
<p class=just>Bowie attended Harvard University, where he earned his (BA, Phi Beta Kappa, 1904; MA 1905). In 1908, he received a BD degree from the Virginia Theological Seminary, and in 1909 he was ordained an Episcopal priest. He served as a hospital chaplain in France in World War I. In 1939, he became Professor of Practical Theology at Union Theological Seminary.</p>
