<p>The Lord's Prayer may be summed up as follows:—</p>
|
|
<p><b>Position.</b> A son adopted. "Our Father, which art in heaven."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Fitness.</b> A worshipper sanctified. "Hallowed be Thy name."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Allegiance.</b> A citizen enfranchised. "Thy kingdom come."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Usefulness.</b> A servant employed. "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Provision.</b> A beggar fed. "Give us this day our daily bread."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Pardon.</b> A sinner absolved. "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Safety.</b> A pilgrim guided. "And lead us not into temptation."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Victory.</b> A soldier succoured. "But deliver us from evil."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Testimony.</b> A witness's confession. "For Thine is the kingdom."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Supply.</b> A weakling empowered. "The power."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Praise.</b> A chorister's song. "And the glory."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Assurance.</b> A saint's belief. "For ever."</p>
|
|
<p><b>Prayer.</b> A believer's acquiescence. "Amen."</p>
