<h2>373. SIN</h2>
|
|
<p>Leprosy illustrates the loathsomeness of sin, consumption the deceitfulness of sin, palsy shows the helplessness of the sinner when in the power of sin.</p>
|
|
<p>1. <b>Blindness.</b> Sin has blinded the eyes of man's understanding so that he cannot see the danger he is in (<a id="fem373-si1" onclick="return mV('2Cr',4,4);">2Cr 4:4</a>), nor the beauty there is in Christ (<a id="fem373-si2" onclick="return mV('Isa',53,2);">Isa 53:2</a>).</p>

<p>2. <b>Deafness.</b> Sin has deafened man's hearing, so that he cannot hear God calling him (<a id="fem373-si3" onclick="return mV('Mar',8,18);">Mar 8:18</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>3. <b>Defilement.</b> Sin has defiled man's mind and polluted his imagination, so that he cannot appreciate Divine things (<a id="fem373-si4" onclick="return mV('Gen',6,5);">Gen 6:5</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>4. <b>Corrupting.</b> Sin has corrupted man's heart, so that he has no love for God, and no desire for the things of God (<a id="fem373-si5" onclick="return mV('Gen',6,12);">Gen 6:12</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>5. <b>Paralysis.</b> Sin has paralysed man's will, so that he has no power to raise himself from the helpless position he is in, and no moral force to enable him to walk in the ways of God (<a id="fem373-si6" onclick="return mV('Rom',5,6);">Rom 5:6</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>6. <b>Separation.</b> Sin has separated man's soul from God (<a id="fem373-si7" onclick="return mV('Isa',59,2);">Isa 59:2</a>), so that he is "dead in sins" (<a id="fem373-si8" onclick="return mV('Eph',2,1);">Eph 2:1</a>).</p>

<p>7. <b>Rebellion.</b> Sin has filled man's mind with rebellion, so that he is said to be "carnal" and "enmity against God" (<a id="fem373-si9" onclick="return mV('Rom',8,7);">Rom 8:7</a>).</p>
