<h2>193. HOLY SPIRIT AND CHRIST</h2>
|
|
<p>If there is one thing more than another that is stated of the Lord Jesus, it is, that in His life and labours, as the Man and Servant of God, He was dependent upon the Holy Spirit. There are no less than <i>fifteen</i> direct references to the Holy Spirit and His action in relation to the Lord Jesus, and <i>vice versa</i>.</p>
|
|
<p>1. Christ was <b>born</b> of the Holy Spirit as to His human nature (<a id="fem193-si1" onclick="return mV('Mat',1,18);">Mat 1:18</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>2. The Holy Spirit was the Father's promised <b>gift</b> to Christ (<a id="fem193-si2" onclick="return mV('Mat',12,18);">Mat 12:18</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>3. Christ was <b>sealed</b> with the Holy Spirit at His baptism (<a id="fem193-si3" onclick="return mV('Mar',1,10);">Mar 1:10</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>4. The normal condition of Christ as to His life was, that He was <b>full</b> of the Holy Spirit (<a id="fem193-si4" onclick="return mV('Luk',4,1);">Luk 4:1</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>5. The Holy Spirit was the <b>sphere</b> in which Christ moved (<a id="fem193-si5" onclick="return mV('Luk',4,14);">Luk 4:14</a>).</p>

<p>6. Christ was <b>led</b> by the Holy Spirit (<a id="fem193-si6" onclick="return mV('Mat',4,1);">Mat 4:1</a>).</p>

<p>7. The Holy Spirit was the <b>power</b> by which Christ exercised His ministry (<a id="fem193-si7" onclick="return mV('Luk',4,18);">Luk 4:18</a>).</p>

<p>8. The Holy Spirit was the <b>energy</b> in which Christ overcame the powers of Satan (<a id="fem193-si8" onclick="return mV('Mat',12,28);">Mat 12:28</a>).</p>

<p>9. The Holy Spirit was the <b>secret</b> of Christ's joy (<a id="fem193-si9" onclick="return mV('Luk',10,21);">Luk 10:21</a>).</p>

<p>10. The Holy Spirit was the <b>anointing</b> which enabled Christ to go about doing good (<a id="fem193-si10" onclick="return mV('Act',10,38);">Act 10:38</a>).</p>

|
<p>11. The Holy Spirit was the <b>strength</b> which enabled Christ to offer Himself as a sacrifice to God on account of sin (<a id="fem193-si11" onclick="return mV('Hbr',9,14);">Hbr 9:14</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>12. The Holy Spirit was the <b>might</b> by which Christ was raised from the dead (<a id="fem193-si12" onclick="return mV('Rom',8,11);">Rom 8:11</a>).</p>

|
<p>13. The Lord Jesus was the <b>Bestower</b> of the Holy Spirit to His disciples (<a id="fem193-si13" onclick="return mV('Jhn',20,22);">Jhn 20:22</a>).</p>

<p>14. The Holy Spirit was the <b>authority</b> by which Christ gave His commands (<a id="fem193-si14" onclick="return mV('Act',1,2);">Act 1:2</a>).</p>
