<div class="SSN_rnum">I. THE MANY THINGS SAID CONCERNING THE CHILD THAT WAS TO BE BORN.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. She was to conceive in her womb. That is while she was still a virgin.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Thus one of the first prophecies of the messiah in the Bible would be fulfilled. In the Garden of Eden when Eve confessed her sin declaring the serpent had beguiled her, God said to the serpent, "And I shall put enmity between you and the woman, and It shall bruise your head, and you will bruise His heel." <a onClick="return mV('Gen',3,15);">Genesis 3:15</a></div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. The woman does not have the seed. She has the ovum that is fertilized by the male seed.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. Thus there is at least a hint of the virgin birth of the deliverer that shall bruise the head or power of Satan.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Isaiah declares it more clearly. "Behold a virgin shall conceive and bare a Son and shall call His name Immanuel.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Mary is being informed by the angel Gabriel that she has been chosen by God for this special honor of bringing the Son of God into this world.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. She was to bring forth a Son and call His name Jesus.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. The name Jesus is the Greek for the Hebrew name Joshua which in Hebrew means "Jehovah is salvation."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Later when the angel came to Joseph to allay his doubts concerning the pregnant condition of the girl he was espoused to he told Joseph not to fear to take Mary as his wife, for that which was conceived in her was from the Holy Spirit, and she was to have a Son who should be named Jesus, "For He shall save His people from their sins."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. So His name implies His mission. He came as the Savior of the world, to save man from consequences of his sin.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Later Jesus was to declare, "For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. At His birth the angels announced the shepherds that unto them was born that day in the city of David, a Savior which was the Messiah, the Lord.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. The people of Samaria said to the woman who met Jesus at the well, "Now we believe not because of your saying but we have heard Him for ourselves, and know indeed that this is the Messiah, the Savior of the world.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">d. Paul writing to Timothy concerning Jesus Christ said,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Ti',1,9);">2TI 1:9</a> Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Ti',1,10);">2TI 1:10</a> But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. He shall be great.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. I cannot tell you how great Jesus is. He created the universe.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. John writing about Him said,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',1,1);">JOH 1:1</a> In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',1,2);">JOH 1:2</a> The same was in the beginning with God.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',1,3);">JOH 1:3</a> All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',1,4);">JOH 1:4</a> In him was life; and the life was the light of men.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',1,5);">JOH 1:5</a> And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. Paul writing about Him said,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Col',1,16);">COL 1:16</a> For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. He is the atomic glue that holds the atoms together. Paul said "By Him are all things held together."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. He has provided us with a great salvation.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Hbr',2,2);">HEB 2:2</a> For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Hbr',2,3);">HEB 2:3</a> How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard [him];</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. His name is above every name.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Phl',2,9);">PHI 2:9</a> Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Phl',2,10);">PHI 2:10</a> That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;</div>

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Phl',2,11);">PHI 2:11</a> And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. He shall be called the Son of the Highest.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. In verse 35 the angel went on to say, That holy One that shall be born of you will be called the Son of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. The prophet Isaiah said,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Isa',9,6);">ISA 9:6</a> For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. A Son is given, who gave His Son?</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. John tells us that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John also wrote in his first letter, "In this God manifested His love toward us in that He sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. Paul wrote to the Galatians, "But in the fullness of time God sent forth His Son into the world, made of a woman."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. John also said,</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. "For this cause was the Son of God manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil."</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. That whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in Him and he in God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. Paul opened his letter to the Romans,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',1,1);">ROM 1:1</a> Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',1,2);">ROM 1:2</a> (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',1,3);">ROM 1:3</a> Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',1,4);">ROM 1:4</a> And declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">E. "And the Lord shall give Him the throne of His father David."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. God promised to David that his seed would sit on the throne forever. David rightly interpreted this is to mean that the Messiah would be one of his descendants.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Isaiah prophesied concerning the Messiah,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Isa',9,7);">ISA 9:7</a> Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">F. That He shall reign forever, and of His kingdom there should be no end.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. The book of Revelation tells us,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rev',11,15);">REV 11:15</a> And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become [the kingdoms] of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Daniel in interpreting the dream of Nebuchadnezzer said concerning the Stone that destroyed the governments of man,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Dan',2,44);">DNL 2:44</a> And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. He later prophesied of the Messiah saying,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Dan',7,14);">DNL 7:14</a> And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. In the Lord's prayer we acknowledge, "For Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever."</div>
