<div class="SSN_level2">A. "He was in the world and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not, He came to His own, and His own received Him not, but as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to become the Sons of God even to them that believe on His name, who were born not blood nor of the will o the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."</div>

<div class="SSN_level2">B. How he shepherded over them while He was with them.</div>

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mar',9,16);">MAR 9:16</a> And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. How He loved them.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',13,1);">John 13:1</a> Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.</div>

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',15,9);">John 15:9</a> As the Father has loved Me so have I loved you, continue in My love.</div>

<div class="SSN_level2">D. How He modeled for them.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Pe',2,21);">1PE 2:21</a> For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Jo',4,17);">1JO 4:17</a> Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. He modeled the importance of prayer.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. He modeled a life of submission and obedience to the Father.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. He modeled grace, mercy and forgiveness.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. How forgiving He was to even those who crucified Him. "Father forgive them, they know not what they do."</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. How much more is His forgiveness toward His stumbling child.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">II. "I KEPT THEM IN THY NAME."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. "The name Jehovah is a strong tower, the righteous runneth into it and is safe."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. What's in a name?</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. If you were a Hebrew, much.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. God would often change their name to signify a change in their character. Jacob to Israel.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. God said that He would honor His name above His word.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. The name Jehoshua, or Jesus in Greek. Becoming our salvation.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. This is a name that is above all names. "For God has given Him a name that is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. How are we kept by the name of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Jehovah means the becoming one. Thus by the appropriation of the name of God, He becomes everything to you that you might need.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. To Abraham in need of a substitute sacrifice, He became Jehovah-jireh.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. To Moses' army in need of banners, He became Jehovah nissi.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. To Gideon looking at the coming battle against the Medianites, He became Jehovah Shalom.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">d. To us He has become Jehovah tsidkenu.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Jude finishes his short epistle with this benediction. "Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before His presence with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and honor, dominion and power, both now and forevermore. Amen."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. How many times I would have fallen, but Jesus held me up.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Ps.124:2 "If it had not been that the Lord was on our side when men rose up against us, we would have been swallowed up."</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">III. "THOSE THAT THOU GAVEST ME I HAVE KEPT, AND NONE OF THEM IS LOST."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. As the good shepherd, He kept the flock entrusted to His care.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. He was not satisfied that the 99 were in the fold but went out on the mountainside looking for the lost sheep.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. How anxious He is to keep all entrusted to Him by the Father.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Sometimes we are so anxious to cast them out of the fold.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. If they are troublesome sheep, or noisy sheep we are ready to cast them out of the fold.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. We are so slow to forgive or to bring them back.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. There are some who do not belong in the fold.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. They may be there under coercion, someone drug them there.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. They are there in body, but not in mind and spirit.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. John says of them they went out from us, but they were not of us, for had they been of us, they would not have gone out from us, but they went out from us that it might be manifested that they were not of us.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">d. John tells us in 6:64, "But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were, who believed not, and who would betray Him. Therefore, I said unto you that no man can come unto Me except it were given unto him of My Father. John tells us that from that time many of His disciples went back and walked no more with Him."</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">IV. "AND NONE IS LOST BUT THE SON OF PERDITION, THAT THE SCRIPTURE MIGHT BE FULFILLED."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Jesus said to His disciples, have I not chosen twelve of you yet one of you is the devil? John tells us that He knew from the beginning who it was who would betray Him.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. It was Judas who objected to the woman pouring the costly ointment upon Jesus, with the hyperspiritual suggestion that the ointment should not be wasted but sold for a great sum and the money be given to the poor. Not that he had any real concern for the poor but he held the purse, and had been thieving out of it.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Son of perdition, an interesting title, and used only one other time in the scriptures, and that concerning the anti-christ.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. "That the scripture might be fulfilled."</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',13,18);">JOH 13:18</a> I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Psa',41,9);">PSA 41:9</a> Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">E. Peter later speaking of Judas said, "He was numbered with us and had obtained part of this ministry." Peter was suggesting the need to appoint someone to take the place of Judas as an apostle. Peter prayed that God would show them which of the two that they had selected should take the part of the ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place that rhymed with fell.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">V. "AND NOW I COME TO THEE, AND THESE THINGS I SPEAK IN THE WORLD, THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE MY JOY FULFILLED IN THEMSELVES."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Jesus is now praying that His joy might be fulfilled in them.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. In chapter 14 He had said to His disciples, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Now He is praying that they might know His joy.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. He has told them that they are to love as He loved them.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. His peace, His joy, His love, what more could I want, what more do I need?</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">5. Perhaps His faith. He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Peter in speaking of the healing of the lame man declared, "And through the faith that is by Him, this man standeth before you whole."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. His desire is that His joy might be fulfilled in you.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. What a powerful witness your life becomes when you are filled with His joy.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. The fullness of joy is related to:</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Our keeping His commandments, and abiding in His love. 15:11. "These things have I spoken unto you that your joy may be full.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. With our prayer life. <a onClick="return mV('Jhn',16,24);">John 16:24</a>. Ask and you shall receive that your joy may be full.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. With our fellowship with the Father and the Son. <a onClick="return mV('1Jo',1,4);">I John 1:4</a>.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">d. With our fellowship with each other. <a onClick="return mV('2Jo',1,12);">II John 1:12</a>.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. We are told that in His presence is fullness of joy, and at His right hand pleasures forever more. Ps.16:11.</div>
