<div class="SSN_level2">B. Reason for not pouring out on last day.</div>

<div class="SSN_level3">2. Promise not yet fulfilled.</div>

<div class="SSN_level2">C. In the midst of this background, Christ cries forth the Gospel in a short sentence, "If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink."</div>

|

<div class="SSN_rnum">II. THIRST - A RECOGNIZED NEED - SOMETHING OF WHICH WE ARE ACTIVELY CONSCIOUS.</div>

<div class="SSN_level2">A. Many thirst for that which cannot satisfy.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. They thirst for world.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Pleasure, money, world, time, ease.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Over these must come the words of Christ, "He that drinketh of this water shall thirst again."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">"The frail vessel thou hast made,</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">No hands but thine can fill,</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">For the waters of this world have failed,</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">And I am thirsty still."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Christ reference to that thirst that is nobler, thirst for Him.</div>
|

<div class="SSN_rnum">III. "COME" EXPRESSES ACTION OF THE WILL.</div>

<div class="SSN_level3">1. Not come to the Lord's table.</div>

<div class="SSN_level3">3. Not come join the church.</div>

<div class="SSN_level3">4. None of these can satisfy.</div>

<div class="SSN_rnum">IV. "AND DRINK." IT IS HERE MANY FAIL.</div>

<div class="SSN_level2">A. Conscience awakened, aware of need.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. River flowing through land where people dying of thirst no value.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_rnum">V. RESULTS OF DRINKING: "OUT OF HIS BELLY SHALL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Belly of man is that which constantly craves.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Natural man's God (<a onClick="return mV('Phl',3,19);">Phil. 3:19</a>).</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. That part of man that is never satisfied.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Out of this part of man a gushing forth enough for self and others. (Christian life spring, not sponge).</div>

<div class="SSN_level2">C. Man must be full to overflow.</div>
|

<div class="SSN_rnum">VI. "THIS SPAKE HE OF THE SPIRIT."</div>
|

<div class="SSN_level2">A. Man was made "in the likeness of God" yet incomplete.</div>
|

<div class="SSN_level2">B. Every man thirst for this completeness.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Some misinterpret this thirst.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Seek to satisfy thirst in world.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Only the coming in of the Spirit can satisfy thirst.</div>
|
