<div class="SSN_intro">Intro: In the scriptures God's people are often referred to as a flock of sheep - Our tendency to herd - our dependence upon the shepherd - our need of guidance and protection.</div>
|

<div class="SSN_rnum">I. GOD'S WORD TO THE EVIL SHEPHERDS.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. More concerned for their own welfare.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. They feed and clothe themselves but not the flock.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Their chief concern is not the flock.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. They did not strengthen the diseased.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">b. They sought not to heal the sick.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">c. They did not bind up the broken.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">d. They did not bring back the sheep that were driven away.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">e. They did not seek the lost sheep.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">f. They ruled with force and cruelty.</div>

<div class="SSN_level2">B. The tragic results.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. The sheep wandered - became scattered.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. They became a prey for the wild beasts.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. The flock was destroyed.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">C. "I am against the shepherds."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. He will take His flock from them.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">D. The primary applications to nation Israel.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. It also applies to the church.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. The word pastor is shepherd.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level5">1. The chief duty is to feed the flock.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level5">2. To love the flock and tenderly care for its needs.</div>
|

<div class="SSN_rnum">II. GOD'S PROMISE TO THE SCATTERED SHEEP.</div>

<div class="SSN_level2">A. That He will search for them and seek them.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. That He would bring them back from the countries where they had been scattered.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. That He would place them again in their land.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. That He would begin to shepherd over them.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">4. That He would punish the nations that had scattered and torn them.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. He then promises them a new Shepherd.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. One shepherd over them.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. No more are they to be a divided people.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. My servant David.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. David was a shepherd before he was a King.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">b. He had the heart of the true shepherd.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">c. God promised Him that his seed would sit on the throne forever.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">d. The Messiah was to be -</div>
|
|

|
|
<div class="SSN_level5">2. Genuinely care for you.</div>

<div class="SSN_rnum">III. THE PROPHETIC SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS PASSAGE.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. God has gathered the nation Israel - He has returned them to their land.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. We now wait for the Good Shepherd to come and take over the flock of God.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_notes">Ps. 102:16-1...When "the Lord shall build up Zion..."</div>
