<div class="SSN_rnum">I. "I AM A WOMAN OF SORROWFUL SPIRIT."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. She had come to the place of weeping all the time.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. She had stopped eating.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Her husband didn't understand her.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. He took her on a vacation and she cried the whole time.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Why was she so sorrowful?</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. She was in a polygamous marriage.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Any man is a fool who thinks he can meet all the needs of two women at once.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. It is all you can do to try to meet one.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. The other wife had become her adversary.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. She was jealous of the preference her husband showed to Hannah.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. She daily taunted her for her barrenness.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. She was barren.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. In that culture, it was considered a curse.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. It was accepted grounds for divorce.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Some of you today have come into the sanctuary with sorrowful spirits.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. It may be that you are having strife in your interpersonal</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">relationships.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. You may feel as though you can't go on.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">II WHERE TO TAKE A SORROWFUL SPIRIT.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Old adage -- misery loves company.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. We go to our friend's house. They're having a party.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Everyone is laughing and having fun.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. Someone finally notices how down you are.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. They try to cheer you up.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">d. They tell you to forget it and laugh.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">e. They just don't understand.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. You finally leave and go to another friend's house.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Before you can say anything, he starts unloading on you, and his problems are worse than yours. You wouldn't dare lay your trip on him.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Within you feel, doesn't anyone understand, won't someone please care?</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Verse 10, "And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Our problem is that we often take our problems to those who really can't help.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Hannah took her sorrowful soul to the right place.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">III. "I HAVE POURED OUT MY SOUL BEFORE THE LORD."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. The Bible tells us to cast all our cares upon Him for He cares for you.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Pouring out your soul to a friend is sometimes a way of losing friendship. (Job).</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. It is disconcerting when the secrets of your soul become the whispers of the crowd because your friend shared with others.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Pouring out your soul to the Lord is always safe, He has never betrayed a confidence.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Pouring out your soul to the Lord is wise.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. He is understanding.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. He has the power and ability to help.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. Pouring out your soul to God brings results.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. The priest Eli said to her, "Go in peace, the God of Israel grant thy petition."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. She went away in faith for she started eating and was no longer sad.</div>
