<p>The Bible speaks of the glory of God.</p>

<blockquote><p>In the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord...Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole of the congregation of the children of Israel, and they looked toward the wilderness, and behold the glory of the Lord appeared in a cloud (<a id="nbi1291-si1" onClick="return mV('Exd',16,7,10);">Exd 16:7, 10</a>).</p></blockquote>

<p>What is the glory of God? God's glory is His splendor, His majesty. The Bible uses God's glory figuratively as a manifestation of Himself. The Bible attributes many appearances and actions of God with His glory.</p>

<p><b>Moses Saw God's Glory</b></p>
|
|
<p>When Moses went up on Mt. Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments from God, the glory of the Lord rested upon the mountain.</p>
|
|
<blockquote><p>Then Moses went up into the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain. Now the glory of the Lord rested on Mt. Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. The sight of the glory of the Lord was like a consuming fire on top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel (<a id="nbi1291-si2" onClick="return mV('Exd',24,'15-17');">Exd 24:15-17</a>).</p></blockquote>

<p><b>It Is Used Figuratively for God</b></p>
|
|
<p>The glory of God is used figuratively for God Himself. Moses said to God:</p>
|
|
<blockquote><p>Please show me your glory. Then he said, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you...You cannot see my face; for no man shall see me and live. And the Lord said, here is a place by me, and you shall stand on the rock. So shall it be, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand while I pass by (<a id="nbi1291-si3" onClick="return mV('Exd',33,'18-22');">Exd 33:18-22</a>).</p></blockquote>

<p><b>The Glory Departed When the People Disobeyed</b></p>
|
|
<p>When the people disobeyed God His glory departed from them.</p>
|
|
<blockquote><p>The glory of the Lord has departed from Israel because the ark of God has been captured (<a id="nbi1291-si4" onClick="return mV('1Sa',4,21);">1Sa 4:21</a>).</p></blockquote>

|

<p>God's glory is His splendor, his majesty. Sometimes God's glory is used figuratively of Himself. When people disobeyed the Lord his glory departed from them.</p>
