<h2>431. THE SON OF GOD</h2>
|
|
<p>The Son of God, in the First Epistle of John. Twenty-four times in this Epistle is He said to be the Son of God.</p>
|
|
<p>1. <b>What did God send His Son to be and do?</b></p>
|
|

|
|
<li>That we might live (<a id="fem431-si1" onclick="return mV('1Jo',4,9);">1Jo 4:9</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>To be a Saviour (<a id="fem431-si2" onclick="return mV('1Jo',4,14);">1Jo 4:14</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>To be a Propitiation (<a id="fem431-si3" onclick="return mV('1Jo',4,10);">1Jo 4:10</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>To destroy the works of the devil (<a id="fem431-si4" onclick="return mV('1Jo',3,8);">1Jo 3:8</a>).</li>
|
|

<p>2. <b>The result of believing in Him as the Son of God</b></p>
|
|

|
|
<li>We have eternal life (<a id="fem431-si5" onclick="return mV('1Jo',5,12);">1Jo 5:12</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>We know it (<a id="fem431-si6" onclick="return mV('1Jo',5,13);">1Jo 5:13</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>We have the witness (<a id="fem431-si7" onclick="return mV('1Jo',5,10);">1Jo 5:10</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>We are in Him (<a id="fem431-si8" onclick="return mV('1Jo',5,10);">1Jo 5:20</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>We know He has come (<a id="fem431-si9" onclick="return mV('1Jo',5,20);">1Jo 5:20</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>God dwelleth in us (<a id="fem431-si10" onclick="return mV('1Jo',4,15);">1Jo 4:15</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>We have the Father and Son (<a id="fem431-si11" onclick="return mV('2Jo',1,9);">2Jo 9</a>).</li>

<p>3. <b>The proof that we believe in Him as the Son of God.</p>
|
|

|
<li>Believe on His Name (<a id="fem431-si12" onclick="return mV('1Jo',2,23);">1Jo 2:23</a>; and <a id="fem431-si13" onclick="return mV('1Jo',5,13);">1Jo 5:13</a>).</li>

<li>Acknowledge Him as the Son (<a id="fem431-si14" onclick="return mV('1Jo',2,23);">1Jo 2:23</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>Confess Him as the Son of God (<a id="fem431-si15" onclick="return mV('1Jo',4,15);">1Jo 4:15</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>Have fellowship with Him (<a id="fem431-si16" onclick="return mV('1Jo',1,3);">1Jo 1:3</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>Continue in Him (<a id="fem431-si17" onclick="return mV('1Jo',2,24);">1Jo 2:24</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>That we know His blood cleanseth us from all sin (<a id="fem431-si18" onclick="return mV('1Jo',1,7);">1Jo 1:7</a>).</li>
|
|
<li>Overcome the world (<a id="fem431-si19" onclick="return mV('1Jo',5,5);">1Jo 5:5</a>).</li>

<p>4. <b>Those who disbelieve that He is the Son of God,</b></p>
|
|
