<h2>329. RESURRECTION OF CHRIST</h2>
|
|
<p>The resurrection of Christ is the <i>heart</i> of Christianity, which makes it pulsate with the life of God; it is the <i>keystone</i> to the arch of truth, which holds all the faith of the Gospel together; it is the <i>foundation</i> of the Church; it is the <i>mainspring</i> of Christian activity; it is the <i>lever</i> of power which shall move the world; and it is the <i>link</i> that unites all believers.</p>

<p>The death of Christ tells us of the <i>love</i> of <i>God</i>, and the resurrection of Christ tells us of the <i>power</i> of <i>God</i>, and of the following seven facts:—</p>
|
|
<p>1. That God is satisfied and glorified (<a id="fem329-si1" onclick="return mV('Rom',8,33,34);">Rom 8:33-34</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>2. That our sins are gone (<a id="fem329-si2" onclick="return mV('Eph',1,7);">Eph 1:7</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>3. That we are accepted in Christ (<a id="fem329-si3" onclick="return mV('Eph',1,6);">Eph 1:6</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>4. That we are united to Christ (<a id="fem329-si4" onclick="return mV('Col',2,12);">Col 2:12</a>; <a id="fem329-si5" onclick="return mV('Col',3,1);">Col 3:1</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>5. That every foe is vanquished (<a id="fem329-si6" onclick="return mV('Col',2,15);">Col 2:15</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>6. That we shall for ever live with Him (<a id="fem329-si7" onclick="return mV('Jhn',14,19);">Jhn 14:19</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>7. That the Spirit is given to the believer (<a id="fem329-si8" onclick="return mV('Jhn',7,39);">Jhn 7:39</a>).<p>Further, the resurrection of Christ was announced in the Scriptures. The death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, were "according to the Scriptures." Mainly the Old Testament is meant when the New Testament speaks of "the Scriptures." Where, in the Old Testament is the resurrection of Christ mentioned? Peter, on the Day of Pentecost, by the Holy Spirit, says in the "sixteenth Psalm" (<a id="fem329-si9" onclick="return mV('Psa',16,'8-11');">Psa 16:8-11</a>; <a id="fem329-si10" onclick="return mV('Act',2,'24-32');">Acts 2:24-32</a>); and Paul at Antioch says in the "second Psalm" (<a id="fem329-si11" onclick="return mV('Psa',2,7);">Psa 2:7</a>; <a id="fem329-si12" onclick="return mV('Act',13,'32-37');">Act 13:32-37</a>). The God-breathed Scriptures (<a id="fem329-si13" onclick="return mV('2Ti',3,16);">2Ti 3:16</a>) were the basis and the authority of the utterance of the apostles, therefore they had an authority above all question, for "where the word of a king is, there is power" (<a id="fem329-si14" onclick="return mV('Ecc',8,4);">Ecc 8:4</a>); and the hearers who received their message had a solid rock upon which to rest, which could never be moved (<a id="fem329-si15" onclick="return mV('1Cr',15,1,2,3,4);">1Cr 15:1-4</a>).</p>
