<p>There are many reasons as to why we should pray. Above all, is the fact that He commands us to pray. The Bible says:

<blockquote><p>Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (<a id="nbi541-si1" onClick="return mV('Phl',4,6,7);">Phl 4:6-7</a>).</p></blockquote>

<p>Paul wrote to Timothy:
|
|
<blockquote><p>I desire, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument (<a id="nbi541-si2" onClick="return mV('1Ti',2,8);">1Ti 2:8</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>Example of Godly People</b></p>
|
|
<p>Another reason why we should pray is to follow the example of godly people throughout Scripture. We see such people as Moses, Joshua, Hannah, David, Anna, Peter, and Paul all engaging in prayer. If the godly people in Scripture felt it necessary to pray, so should we.
|

|
|
<p><b>Jesus</b>
|
|
<p>Finally, we find that prayer was an important part of the experience of the Lord Jesus.
|
|
<blockquote><p>And it was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God (<a id="nbi541-si3" onClick="return mV('Luk',6,12);">Luk 6:12</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
<p>If He felt the need to pray, the so should we.</p>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>Summary</b>
|
|
<p>Prayer is something that the Bible commands believers to do. As we search the pages of Scripture we find godly men and women engaged in prayer. Also the Lord Jesus was a man of prayer.
