<p>When a person receives Christ as Savior, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit seals, or guarantees, that the individual is a child of God. It confirms the fact that the Holy Spirit will never leave him. The Scripture says:</p>
|
|
<blockquote><p>Who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a deposit (<a id="nbi490-si1" onClick="return mV('2Cr',1,22);">2Cr 1:22</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>In Him you also <i>trusted</i>, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise (<a id="nbi490-si2" onClick="return mV('Eph',1,13);">Eph 1:13</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption (<a id="nbi490-si3" onClick="return mV('Eph',4,30);">Eph 4:30</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
|
|
<p>From these passages we can deduce the following concerning the sealing of the Holy Spirit:</p>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>1.</b> All believers are sealed by the Holy Spirit. The church in Corinth included believers who were spiritually immature and had gross sin in their lives. Yet they were all sealed with the Spirit. Furthermore, the Scriptures nowhere command the believer to be sealed with the Spirit. All believers are assumed to be sealed.</p>

<p><b>2.</b>The sealing takes place the moment a person trusts Christ as Savior.</b>
|
|
<p><b>3.</b> The sealing of the Holy Spirit is a non-experiential ministry of the Spirit. It takes place without the believer directly experiencing it.</p>
|
|
<p><b>4.</b> When the Holy Spirit seals the believer, He guarantees that persons security. The sealing is a promise that the salvation the Christian receives is granted both now and forever.</p>
|
