<div class="SSN_rnum">I. NOW THAT THE TABERNACLE IS SET UP, GOD GIVES TO MOSES INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE VARIOUS SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS THAT ARE TO MADE BEFORE THE LORD.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. In the latter part of chapter 7 we have a listing of the various offerings and sacrifices.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Lev',7,37);">LEV 7:37</a> This [is] the law of the burnt offering, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings;</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Verse 2: "If any man." Whosoever will.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Verse 3, First offering described is burnt sacrifice. This was the offering of dedication or consecration.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. All of the offerings pre-figure Jesus Christ.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. These first offerings were known as sweet savor offerings.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. The fat and the dough were to be roasted on the fire of the altar. What smells better than the barbecue or baking bread?</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. <a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,2);">EPH 5:2</a>: "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Requirements:</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Male without blemish</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Offered by his own voluntary will.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. Method:</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Put hand on head (Thus identifying himself with the sacrifice).</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. He then was to kill the sacrifice.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Aaron's sons were to then dip their finger in the blood and wipe it on the horn of the altar of incense which was before the veil. The rest of the blood was poured out at the base of the altar.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. Wood was to be placed in order on the altar, and then the inward legs were to be burned on the altar. An offering made by fire, a sweet savor to the Lord.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">5. The offering may be a bullock, lamb, goat, turtledoves or pigeons, if you were poor.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">II. CHAPTER 2: THE SWEET SAVOR MEAL OFFERINGS.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. The meal offering. Bringing the fruit of labor, thus a dedication of my service to God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Fine flour, pour oil upon it and frankincense.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. The priest was to take a handful of the dough and burn it on the fire.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. The remainder was to belong to Aaron and his sons.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. It could be baked in an oven, in a pan, or a frying pan.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">5. Again a portion placed in the fire as a memorial, the rest to go to Aaron and sons.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">6. It was to be baked without leaven.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. In the scriptures, leaven is a type of sin.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. It was the starter dough that caused the batch of dough to rise by a fermentation process.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. Jesus said to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees which was hypocrisy.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">d. Paul commanded the church to purge out the leaven, because a little leaven leavens the whole lump.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">7. There also was to be no honey, which represents natural sweetness.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">8. They were to be seasoned with salt.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Again this offering is representative of Jesus, our sweet smelling sacrifice. No sin in Him and the graciousness of His love could not be represented as natural sweetness. Jesus brings flavor and zest to our lives.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">III. CHAPTER 3: THE PEACE OFFERINGS.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. This was the offering of fellowship with God. Again, this was made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for us. The veil of the temple was rent when He died. The door was thus opened for all men to come and fellowship with God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. It could be male or female, but had to be without blemish.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Again the laying of the hand on the head, thus, identifying with the sacrifice.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. It was to be killed at the door of the tabernacle, and the blood sprinkled around the altar.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">E. All the fat and the kidneys were to be burned on the fire.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">F. It could be a lamb or a goat.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">G. They were never to eat the fat or the blood.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">H. Part of the offering to be offered on the altar, the rest roasted and eaten by the offerer. The beautiful picture of eating with God, and according to their culture, becoming one with Him.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">I. Note how in His ministry Jesus loved to eat with people.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">IV. CHAPTER 4: THE SIN OFFERING TO BE OFFERED FOR SINS OF IGNORANCE. (IGNORANCE OF THE LAW IS NO EXCUSE.)</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. A young bullock without blemish.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Laying hand on the head thus identifying with the sacrifice. I deserve to die but this animal is dying in my place.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. The animal was then killed, and the priest would put his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before the altar of incense in the tabernacle. Some of the blood was to be put on the horns of the altar. The majority of the blood was to be poured at the base of the altar of sacrifice in the courtyard.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. All of the fat was to be trimmed off of the meat, and with the kidneys it was to be burned on the fire.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">E. The rest of the bullock was to be taken outside of the camp and burned with fire.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">F. This was to be done for the sins of the priests, verse 3. For the whole congregation of Israel, verse</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">13. For the rulers, verse</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">22. For the common person, verse 27.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">G. A lamb could be used in place of the bullock, verse 32.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">H. This would make atonement for the sin. Word atonement in Hebrew is kawfar or covering.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">I. "And he shall be forgiven." What beautiful words.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Psa',32,1);">PSA 32:1</a> Blessed [is he whose] transgression [is] forgiven, [whose] sin [is] covered.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Psa',32,2);">PSA 32:2</a> Blessed [is] the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit [there is] no guile.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">J. It was not possible that the blood of bulls or goats could take away their sin, <a onClick="return mV('Hbr',10,4);">Hebrews 10:4</a>, only cover it, kophar.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">V. CHAPTER 5: THE TRESPASS OFFERING.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. The difference between sin and trespass. Note that with the sin offering the word ignorance was used. The word sin means to miss the mark. You may sin without ever knowing it. You may sin even when trying to hit the mark. Trespass is a knowing deliberate transgression.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. The various trespasses described.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. If you try to cover for someone else that you have observed commiting a crime and do not report it, you become an accessory to their crime. You bear their guilt.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. If you touch an unclean thing.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Carcass of a dead animal.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. The uncleaness of a man.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">c. If you take a rash vow, whether good or evil, when you realize how foolish it was, you are guilty and must offer a trespass offering to break the vow.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">d. Unintentionally defiling something that is holy.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. What you are to do.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. You must confess your sin, verse 5.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. You must bring a trespass offering.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. The trespass offering.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. A female from the flock.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. It could be a lamb or a kid of the goats.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. If you cannot afford a lamb or kid, you could bring two turtledoves or pigeons. One for the sin offering the other for a burnt offering.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. If you are too poor to bring the turtledoves you could bring approximately three quarts of fine flour.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. This was not to have any oil or frankincense.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. A handful was to be sprinkled on the fire as a sin offering and the sin was forgiven. The rest of the flour was given to the priest.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">5. The offering for the holy thing that was unintentionally defiled was to be:</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. An unblemished ram from out of his flock.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. Restitution of the estimated cost, plus 20%.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">E. Again, even sins of ignorance are not pardoned without sacrifice, verse 17.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">VI. CHAPTER 6: THE TRESPASS OFFERING CONTINUED, AND THE RESTITUTION THAT WAS TO BE MADE.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. The various trespasses described.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Lying to you neighbor about something that he delivered to you to keep for him. Maybe telling him it was stolen from you.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. You took something away from another by violence.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. You found a lost article and did not return it, but lied and denied finding it, verse 3.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. What must be done about your guilt.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. You must restore the items.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. You are then to add 20%.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. You then were to bring your trespass offering.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. A ram without blemish.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">b. Verse 7: And the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord and it shall be forgiven him.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. The law of the burnt offering, verse 8.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. It was to burned upon the altar all night.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. The priest was to put on his linen garment and take the ashes that the fire had consumed and place them beside the altar.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. He then is to change his garments and carry the ashes out of the camp to a clean place.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. The fire of the altar was never to go out. They were to put fresh wood on the fire every morning and the fat of the peace offering was to be burned each morning.</div>
