<div class="SSN_title">"GO FORWARD."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_rnum">I. THE DILEMMA THEY FACED.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. They were escaping from the Egyptians and had come into a valley that led to the Red Sea.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. The mountains of Pihahiroth, were on one side of them and the mountains of Migdol on the other.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. When the Egyptians heard of the directions they had taken they said they were entangled in the land, the wilderness has shut them in.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Apparently they were caught in a trap from which there was no escape.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. The Egyptians had decided to pursue them to bring them back as slaves into bondage once again.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Pharaoh had come with his chariots and armies and had sealed the pass behind them so that they were trapped.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. When the people saw the Egyptian army behind them cutting off the escape route, they cried unto the Lord and complained unto Moses.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. They said, "Were there not enough graves in Egypt to bury us?" Why did you bring us out to this wilderness to die?</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">4. Why didn't you leave us alone? It would have been better for us to die in Egypt than here in the wilderness.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">5. They must have thought, "What ever inspired us to follow this mad man? The first thing he does is lead us into a trap.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">C. It should be noted that God led them into the apparent trap. They were following the cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. The Lord had directed Moses to lead them into this valley.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. This whole problem they were facing was created by God.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">D. It is so important to see behind the scenes. "To see Your hand of love in all that comes my way, To hear Your voice each moment of the day."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. So many times when we look at our situation, we feel that we have somehow been trapped.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. We can see no way out of our dilemma.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. At this time it is important to know that God is in control of the circumstances of our lives, and that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we could ask or think.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_rnum">II. MOSES' WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO THE PEOPLE.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Fear not.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Easy to say, but hard to do in a situation like this.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Fear is an enemy to faith, and is mutually exclusive to faith.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. If you fear, you lack in faith.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">4. If you have true faith, you will not fear.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Stand still.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. The natural response is to try to run from the problem.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. God had brought them to the place where there was no place to run, and He often brings us to that place.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">C. See the salvation of the Lord that He will show to you this day.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Watch God work.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. There is a saying, not scripture, "Man's extremities are God's opportunities." This is a true saying.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Much later in the history of the nation, God will give similar encouragement to the people during the reign of Jehoshaphat when they are faced with an invasion of the Edomites. The prophet Jahaziel said to the frightened people:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Ch',20,15);">2CH 20:15</a> Hearken all Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle [is] not yours, but God's.</div>

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Ch',20,16);">2CH 20:16</a> To morrow go down against them: behold, they will be coming up by the cliff of Ziz; and you shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.</div>

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Ch',20,17);">2CH 20:17</a> You shall not [need] to fight in this [battle]: set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD [will be] with you.</div>
