<p>High Word of God, Who once didst come,<br>

Leaving Thy Father and Thy home,<br>

To succor by Thy birth our kind,<br>

When, towards Thy advent, time declined,</p>

And fire our hearts with Thy strong love,<br>

That, as we hear Thy Gospel read,<br>
