<h2>227. JEHOVAH-JIREH</h2>
|
|
<p><b>The Lord will provide for every emergency.</b> When the knife was uplifted by Abraham and about to be plunged into the heart of Isaac, God stayed his hand and revealed Himself as Jehovah-Jireh in providing the ram, which was offered up in the stead of Isaac. How we are reminded by this of the Lord's provision for the sinner in the death of Christ. The believer in Christ can say, "He was offered up in the stead of me, even as the ram in the stead of Isaac." In temporal things as well as in spiritual matters the Lord is our Jehovah-Jireh. He will surely supply all our need. He will be our strength in weakness, our stay in sorrow, and our song in sadness. The following acrostic on Jehovah-Jireh illustrates in some measure what the Lord is to the believer:—</p>
