<h2>222. JACOB'S ISOLATION</h2>

<p><b>Jacob's isolation with God</b> (<a id="fem222-si1" onclick="return mV('Gen',32,24);">Gen 32:24</a>).—The very best thing for Jacob was to be alone with God. One has well said in speaking of this aloneness with God, "Jacob was left alone purposely for secret prayer, so the Church gets into 'the clefts of the rocks' (<a id="fem222-si2" onclick="return mV('Sgs',2,14);">Sgs 2:14</a>); Isaac into the fields; Daniel to the river's side; Christ into the mount; Peter up to the house-top; that they may pour out their prayers and solace themselves with God in secret."</p>

<p>1. Alone with God we are stripped of self-righteousness, as in the case of Job (<a id="fem222-si3" onclick="return mV('Job',42,6);">Job 42:6</a>).</p>
|

<p>2. Alone with God we get to know our inward corruption and uncomeliness, as in the case of Daniel (<a id="fem222-si4" onclick="return mV('Dan',10,8);">Dan 10:8</a>).</p>

<p>3. Alone with Christ, He instructs in Divine things as He did His disciples (<a id="fem222-si5" onclick="return mV('Mar',4,34);">Mar 4:34</a>).</p>
|

<p>4. Alone with God we are led into greater blessing, as in the case of Jacob (<a id="fem222-si6" onclick="return mV('Gen',32,28,29);">Gen 32:28-29</a>).</p>
