<h2>194. HONEY</h2>
|
|
<p>1. <b>The manna</b> that fell in the wilderness tasted like honey. "The taste of it was like wafers made with <i>honey</i>" (<a id="fem194-si1" onclick="return mV('Exd',16,31);">Exd 16:31</a>).</p>
|
|
<p>2. <b>The land of Canaan</b>, which is typical of earthly blessing to the full, is said to be a land flowing with milk and honey. "I am come…to bring…unto a land flowing with milk and <i>honey</i>" (<a id="fem194-si2" onclick="return mV('Exd',3,8);">Exd 3:8</a>).</p>

<p>3. <b>The abundance of God's favour and grace</b> is likened to honey. "He made him to suck <i>honey</i> out of the rock" (<a id="fem194-si3" onclick="return mV('Deu',32,13);">Deu 32:13</a>).</p>

<p>4. <b>The preciousness and sweetness of God's Word</b> are…"Sweeter also than <i>honey</i> and the honeycomb" (<a id="fem194-si4" onclick="return mV('Psa',19,10);">Psa 19:10</a>).</p>

<p>5. <b>Pleasant words</b> and sweetness of expression are compared to honey. "Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul" (<a id="fem194-si5" onclick="return mV('Pro',16,24);">Pro 16:24</a>).</p>

<p>6. <b>Christ's delight</b> in His people when they are bringing forth fruit is as a feast to Him. "I have eaten My honeycomb with My <i>honey</i>" (<a id="fem194-si6" onclick="return mV('Sgs',5,1);">Sgs 5:1</a>).</p>

<p>7. <b>Pleasures of sin</b> and the lusts of the flesh are likened to honey. "For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb" (<a id="fem194-si7" onclick="return mV('Pro',5,3);">Pro 5:3</a>).</p>
