<div class="SSN_title">"NOAH FOUND GRACE"</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_intro">Intro. The Hebrew word translated grace in most translations is translated favor. Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord. This same Hebrew word is translated favor in the majority of places where it is found in the King James Bible.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_rnum">I. HOW IS IT THAT NOAH FOUND FAVOR IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD?</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Noah was a just man. vs 7</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. He was upright, and fair.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. God loves true justice.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. This again is one of those things that I do not understand about man's hatred of God, and the law of God. God wants us to be honest and fair in our dealings with others.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">4. Look at what happens to a society where these virtues are not honored.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. In Noah's day the earth was described as being corrupt.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">b. We read also that it was filled with violence.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">5. I was reading in the paper yesterday of the problems they are having in Kosovo with organized crime that has returned to the area.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Mothers expressing that there greatest fear is that their girls ages 13 or over might be kidnapped by the organized crime groups and be forced into prostitution.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">b. The fear of sending their girls to the store lest they not return.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Noah is described as perfect. vs 7. The Hebrew word is complete or whole. It is most often translated without blemish.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Noah was a whole or entire man, without blemish.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. How God longs that we be whole, without blemish.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Because Noah walked with God. vs.7</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. What a contrast with the society in which he lived which is described in the text.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. The wickedness of man was great.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">b. Every imagination of man's heart was only evil continually.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">c. Living Bible translates it as rotten to the core.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">D. He was a righteous man.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Even as Abraham, his faith was counted for righteousness.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. We read in the book of Hebrews:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Hbr',11,7);">HEB 11:7</a> By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. It must have taken a lot of faith to build a ship as large as the Ark out in the desert.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">b. Can you imagine the mocking and ridicule that Noah must have endured.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">c. Jay Leno would have had a field day with Noah.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">d. I can imagine that they had a lot of Noah jokes in those days.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_rnum">II. WHAT WAS THE RESULT OF HIS FINDING FAVOR IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD?</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. He was spared the judgment of God that destroyed the earth with a flood.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. You may ask, "Chuck, do you really believe that the whole earth was covered with the water of the flood, and that Noah was a real person?"</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. I certainly do.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">b. Jesus apparently did also.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">c. It is interesting how that today many scientists are beginning to consider the evidence of the flood.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">d. Just this past week, because of a shelf found in the Black Sea, they are beginning to consider the changes that took place at the Black Sea, how that it is now thought to be at one time before the flood, a fresh water lake.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">e. This past year thousands of unhatched Dinosaur eggs were found in Argentina. The scientific mystery is why they were not hatched, and one of the possible suggestions that they plan to research is the possibility that the dinosaurs were destroyed in the flood.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. In almost every ancient civilization there are stories of a great flood and a family escaping in a large ship. These many stories prove the common origin of man. At the spreading of humanity at the tower of Babel. Where ever they went they carried the story of the great flood.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_rnum">III. GOD IS ABOUT READY TO BRING HIS JUDGMENT ON THE EARTH AGAIN.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. This time He will not destroy the earth with a flood. He made a covenant with Noah that there would never again be a flood to destroy the earth.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. This judgment will be more severe, for it will be one calamity after another until most of the earths population will be destroyed, and the remaining population will be calling on the rocks and mountains to fall on them and hide them from the wrath of God that is being poured out on all mankind.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Jesus was asked by His disciples to give them the signs of His coming and the end of the age. As one of the signs Jesus said, "And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at His coming."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">D. What were the conditions of the earth at the time of Noah that prompted God to send the flood to destroy it?</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. First we note that it was a time of population explosion.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">a. We are living in a time of population explosion.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">b. At the time of Christ there were 200,000 people on the earth.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">c. It wasn't until 1860 that the population reached 1 billion.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">d. By 1935 the population reached 2 billion.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">e. This year we came to the number of 6 billion people now living on this planet.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level4">f. If from the time of Adam the average family size was 8 children, and the average generation was 93 years, in the average life span was 500 years, by the time Adam died, there would have been 2,800,000 people living on the earth and by the time the flood came the population would have been over 3 billion people.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. From the text it would seem that men were preoccupied with sex.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. The wickedness of man was great.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">4. Every thought and imagination of man's heart was only evil continually.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">5. Violence filled the earth.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">6. This sounds like the present day scenario.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">E. We are promised in the scriptures that we will escape this wrath of God that is to be poured out upon this wicked world.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">F. Even as Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord, so you too can find favor in the sight of the Lord and be preserved from this day of wrath that is coming.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Jesus promised to the church of Philadelphia, in <a onClick="return mV('Rev',3,10);">Rev. 3</a>. "Because you have kept the word of my patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation that is coming to try men that dwell on the face of the earth."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Noah found favor in the sight of the Lord because He had faith in the word of the Lord.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Because of his faith in the word of the Lord, he endured the ridicule of the world as he prepared himself to escape the judgment of God that was to come.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">4. God has provided for us an ark of safety from the coming judgment, and that is Jesus Christ. By putting your trust in Him, you can be saved from the judgment to come.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">G. Even as Noah was ridiculed by those about him for what they considered his foolish belief in the promise of God, so there are scoffers today who ask, "Where is the promise of His coming?" Things are going to continue to just go on as they always have. Peter tells us that they are willing ignorant of the fact that God sent the flood on the earth to destroy it at the time of Noah.</div>
