<p>The Bible makes a distinction between Jesus and the Holy Spirit in a number of ways. They include the following.</p>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>1. Jesus Was Led of the Spirit and Full of the Spirit</b></p>
|
|
<p>After Jesus' baptism He was said to be full of the Holy Spirit and led by the Holy Spirit.</p>
|
|
<blockquote><p>Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil (<a id="nbi326-si1" onClick="return mV('Mat',4,1);">Mat 4:1</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
<p>Luke writes.</p>
|
|
<blockquote><p>Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness (<a id="nbi326-si2" onClick="return mV('Luk',4,1);">Luk 4:1</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
<p>He did not fill or lead Himself.</p>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>2. He Was Given the Holy Spirit without Measure</b></p>
|
|
<p>The Bible says that Jesus was given the Holy Spirit without measure.</p>
|
|
<blockquote><p>He who has received his testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true. For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for he gives the Spirit without measure (<a id="nbi326-si3" onClick="return mV('Jhn',3,33,34);">Jhn 3:33-34</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
<p>Jesus is not equated with the Holy Spirit.</p>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>3. The Spirit Will Testify of Jesus</b></p>
|
|
<p>The Bible says that the Spirit will testify of Jesus, not of Himself.</p>
|
|
<blockquote><p>But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own initiative, but whatever he hears, he will speak; and he will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify me, for he will take of mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine and will disclose it to you (<a id="nbi326-si4" onClick="return mV('Jhn',16,'13-16');">Jhn 16:13-16</a>).</p></blockquote>

<p>This makes another clear distinction between the two of them.</p>
|

<p><b>Summary</b></p>
|
|
<p>Scripture makes a distinction between the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that Jesus was led of the Spirit—he did not lead himself. Jesus was also filled with the Holy Spirit—he was not filled with himself. Also the Bible says that Jesus was given the Holy Spirit. In addition, the Bible says that the Holy Spirit will testify of Jesus not of himself. Jesus was never said to be the Holy Spirit. Consequently we conclude that the Holy Spirit is a distinct person from Jesus.</p>
