<h2>253. LANDMARKS</h2>
|
|
<p>One of the commands of Jehovah to Israel was, that they were not to remove the landmarks of their neighbour (<a id="fem253-si1" onclick="return mV('Deu',19,14);">Deu 19:14</a>; <a id="fem253-si2" onclick="return mV('Deu',27,17);">Deu 27:17</a>). Even more significant are the terse and telling terms which we find in <a id="fem253-si3" onclick="return mV('Exd',12,'1-');">Exd 12</a>, <a id="fem253-si4" onclick="return mV('Exd',13,'1-');">13</a> and <a id="fem253-si5" onclick="return mV('Exd',14,'1-');">14</a>, as indicating the landmarks of God's grace to His people, and what He expects from them. There are seven terms which we may call the seven landmarks of Christian experience.</p>

<p>1. <b>The "Take" of Faith.</b> "<i>Take</i>…a lamb." "<i>Take</i> of the blood" (<a id="fem253-si6" onclick="return mV('Exd',12,3,7);">Exd 12:3, 7</a>). Faith takes the Pascal Lamb of God's appointing, and finds in His blood its blessing.</p>

<p>2. <b>The "Eat" of Satisfaction.</b> "<i>Eat</i> the flesh," &c. (<a id="fem253-si7" onclick="return mV('Exd',12,8);">Exd 12:8</a>) Christ is the soul's Food as well as its Salvation (see <a id="fem253-si8" onclick="return mV('Jhn',6,'53-58');">Jhn 6:53-58</a>).</p>

<p>3. <b>The "Shall not" of Assurance.</b> "The plague <i>shall not</i> be upon you (<a id="fem253-si9" onclick="return mV('Exd',12,13);">Exd 12:13</a>). When we have God's "shall not" we are safe (<a id="fem253-si10" onclick="return mV('Jhn',5,24);">Jhn 5:24</a>; <a id="fem253-si11" onclick="return mV('Rom',6,14);">Rom 6:14</a>).</p>

<p>4. <b>The "Put away" of Separation.</b> "<i>Put away</i> leaven" (<a id="fem253-si12" onclick="return mV('Exd',12,15);">Exd 12:15</a>). The leaven of wickedness must be entirely separated from the believer (<a id="fem253-si13" onclick="return mV('1Cr',5,6,7,8);">1Cr 5:6-8</a>).</p>

<p>5. <b>The "Sanctity" of Dedication.</b> "<i>Sanctify</i> unto Me" (<a id="fem253-si14" onclick="return mV('Exd',13,2);">Exd 13:2</a>). Separation to God Himself, to all He is, has, and desires, is the essence of consecration.</p>
|
|
<p>6. <b>The "Stand still" of Obedience.</b> "<i>Stand still</i> and see the salvation of the Lord" (<a id="fem253-si15" onclick="return mV('Exd',14,13);">Exd 14:13</a>). To obey the direction of the Lord is our highest service.</p>
|
|
<p>7. <b>The "Go-forward" of Progress.</b> "<i>Go forward</i>" (<a id="fem253-si16" onclick="return mV('Exd',14,15);">Exd 14:15</a>). To advance in the Divine life is the evidence of soul prosperity. Stagnation is a proof of death.</p>
