<div class="SSN_rnum">I. "WHOEVER IS BORN OF GOD."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Jesus said to Nicodemus, that to enter the kingdom of heaven he would have to be born again. He spoke of being born of the Spirit.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. That which was born of the flesh was flesh.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. That which was born of the Spirit was spirit.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. We must have a spiritual birth.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. By being born of God, I become a son of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. We read in <a onClick="return mV('Jhn',1,12,13);">John 1</a>,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',1,12);">JOH 1:12</a> But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jhn',1,13);">JOH 1:13</a> Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Beloved, now are we the sons of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. How do we become sons of God?</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. That is basically what Nicodemus asked? Jesus answered, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. To as many as received Him, (i.e. Jesus) to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, even to those who believed on His name.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. <a onClick="return mV('1Pe',1,23);">1PE 1:23</a>: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. <a onClick="return mV('Gal',3,26);">GAL 3:26</a>: For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. What are the proofs that we are sons of God; that I have been truly born again?</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Whoever is born of God does not live in sin.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Jo',5,18);">1JO 5:18</a> We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. He is living a righteous life.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Jo',2,29);">1JO 2:29</a> If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. His life is marked by love.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Jo',4,7);">1JO 4:7</a> Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. He believes that Jesus is the Son of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Jo',5,1);">1JO 5:1</a> Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">5. He lives an overcoming life.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Jo',5,4);">1JO 5:4</a> For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">6. He is led by the Spirit. "But as many as are led by the Spirit they are the sons of God." <a onClick="return mV('Rom',8,14);">Rom. 8:14</a>.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">II. HOW ARE WE KEPT FROM LIVING IN SIN? "FOR HIS SEED REMAINETH IN HIM."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. His seed is His word.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Peter told us that we were born again not with corruptible seed but incorruptible seed which he defined as the word of God that lives and abides forever.</div>
<div class="SSN_level4">a. Jesus said that heaven and earth would pass away, but His word would abide forever.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. James tells us,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jam',1,18);">JAM 1:18</a> Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. In the parable of the sower Jesus speaks of the seed falling on various types of soil. In His explanation of the parable He told the disciples, that the seed was the word.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. The word of God in our hearts is our greatest defense against sin.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. The psamist said,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Psa',119,11);">PSA 119:11</a> Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Jesus said, "Now you are clean through the word that I have spoken unto you."</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Again the psalmist asked, "How can a young man cleanse his way? He answered his own question, "By taking heed to Thy word."</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Psa',119,101);">PSA 119:101</a> I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Psa',119,104);">PSA 119:104</a> Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">4. Jesus used the word to withstand every temptation of Satan.</div>
<div class="SSN_rnum">III. "HE CANNOT LIVE IN SIN BECAUSE HE IS BORN OF GOD."</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Being born of God is totally incompatible with living in sin.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',6,14);">2CO 6:14</a> Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',6,15);">2CO 6:15</a> And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',6,16);">2CO 6:16</a> And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',6,17);">2CO 6:17</a> Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',6,18);">2CO 6:18</a> And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',7,1);">2CO 7:1</a> Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">B. We cannot be born of God and continue to live as we once did.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',4,17);">EPH 4:17</a> This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',4,18);">EPH 4:18</a> Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',4,19);">EPH 4:19</a> Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',4,20);">EPH 4:20</a> But ye have not so learned Christ;</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">C. We cannot be born of God and continue to live after the flesh.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,1);">EPH 5:1</a> Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,2);">EPH 5:2</a> And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,3);">EPH 5:3</a> But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,4);">EPH 5:4</a> Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,5);">EPH 5:5</a> For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,6);">EPH 5:6</a> Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,7);">EPH 5:7</a> Be not ye therefore partakers with them.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,8);">EPH 5:8</a> For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light:</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',5,9);">EPH 5:9</a> (For the fruit of the Spirit [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">D. You cannot be born of God and continue to have friendship with the world.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jam',4,4);">JAM 4:4</a> Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">E. We cannot be born of God and live in the flesh.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Pe',4,2);">1PE 4:2</a> That he no longer should live the rest of [his] time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Pe',4,3);">1PE 4:3</a> For the time past of [our] life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:</div>
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Pe',4,4);">1PE 4:4</a> Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]:</div>
<div class="SSN_level2">F. When you are born of the God you receive a new nature.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">1. We no longer excuse ourselves because of the Adamic nature.</div>
<div class="SSN_level3">2. "If any man be in Christ Jesus, he is a new creation, the old things have passed away and behold all things become new."</div>
