|
<p>Adverb of time, "<i>Then</i>," in connection with Christ's return.</p>
|
|
<p>1. <b>In <a id="fem452-si1" onclick="return mV('1Cr',13,11,12);">1Cr 13:11-12</a>, we have the "then" of perfect knowledge.</b> "Now I know in part: but <i>then</i> shall I know even as also I am known." We do not know perfectly at present, for we see through an obscure glass, but when we are in the glorified state we shall see things with a perfect vision.</p>

<p>2. <b>In <a id="fem452-si2" onclick="return mV('1Cr',4,5);">1Cr 4:5</a>, we have the "then" of commendation.</b> "<i>Then</i> shall every man have praise of God." The practical word to the Christian worker is, to "judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come."</p>

<p>3. <b>In <a id="fem452-si3" onclick="return mV('1Cr',15,54);">1Cr 15:54</a>, we have the "then" of victory over death.</b> "So when…this mortal shall have put on immortality, <i>then</i> shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, death is swallowed up in victory." Meantime death swallows up those who come under its power, but there is a time coming when it shall be defeated.</p>

<p>4. <b>In <a id="fem452-si4" onclick="return mV('1Th',4,17);">1Th 4:17</a>, we have the "then" of union.</b> "<i>Then</i> we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air." With the loved ones who have fallen asleep, we shall be for ever with the Lord when He comes, but not till then.</p>

<p>5. <b>In <a id="fem452-si5" onclick="return mV('Col',3,4);">Col 3:4</a>, we have the "then" of glory.</b> "When Christ, who is our Life, shall appear, <i>then</i> shall ye also appear with Him in glory." When Christ is manifested to the world in His resplendent glory, then we, with Him, shall be seen in the glory which He has put upon us.</p>

<p>6. <b>In <a id="fem452-si6" onclick="return mV('Mat',25,1);">Mat 25:1</a>, we have the "then" of the end.</b> The Great Tribulation in relation to the Jewish people, who are likened to wise and foolish virgins. "<i>Then</i> shall the kingdom of heaven," &c.</p>

<p>7. <b>In <a id="fem452-si7" onclick="return mV('1Cr',15,28);">1Cr 15:28</a>, we have the "then" of the eternal state.</b> "<i>Then</i> shall the Son also Himself be subject unto Him that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all." Meantime Christ is seen as the Son, and will be seen as such through the Millennium. After the Millennium, His Sonship will be merged into the Godhead.</p>
