<p><i>Born:</i> August 30, 1874, Edinburgh, Scotland.</p>
<p><i>Died:</i> December 30, 1915, on the steam ship <i>Korona</i>, while going to a Caribbean honeymoon with his wife Ann.</p>
<p><i>Buried:</i>at sea.</p>

<p>Allan was the son of Ira Sankey and Frances Victoria Edwards. He married twice, to Frances Wann (1899) and Ann Underhill Meighan (1915).
<p>He studied civil engineering and architecture at Princeton University, graduating in 1897.
<p>In 1898, he became president of the Biglow & Main music publishers in New York City. He also served as vice-president of the Leeds and Catlin Phonograph Company, and on the Advisory Board of the Greenich [sic] Bank. His works include:</p>

<li><i>Best Endeavor Hymns</i>, with John Clements (New York: Biglow & Main, 1907)</li>
<li><i>Hallowed Hymns, New and Old</i> (New York and Chicago, Illinois: Big­low & Main, 1908) (sold almost 200,000 copies in the first four months)</li>
