<p>Many people wonder why try to change things in our life since God has predetermined the outcome. But this is not the teaching of Scripture.</p>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>We Have Choice</b>
|
|
<p>The Scripture teaches that we have a choice whether to follow Christ or not follow Him. In His prayer over the city of Jerusalem Jesus said:
|
|
<blockquote><p>O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing (<a id="nbi535-si1" onClick="return mV('Mat',22,37);">Mat 22:37</a>).</p></blockquote>

<p>Two things stand out here. First Jesus cried over the city for not receiving Him as their Messiah. If they had had no choice in the matter then His weeping would have been a charade. Also He said clearly He often wanted to gather them to Himself but they <i>would</i> not, not that they <i>could</i> not. What this implies is they had a choice to accept or reject Him. Unfortunately, they chose to reject Him.</p>

|
<p><b>Judgment</b>
|
|
<p>When we are to go before the Lord in judgment, we will have to answer for what we have done here on earth. Those who have trusted Christ will not have to answer for their sins, seeing they have been forgiven. Those outside of Christ will have to pay the penalty for rejecting Him. The Bible always assumes these people have a choice and they have chosen to reject Him. It is on that basis that they will be judged.

<p><b>Summary</b></p>
|
|
<p>Human beings have a choice whether to chose or reject the Lord. God has not made us robots—He is not up there pulling strings. Furthermore, God will hold us responsible for our choices.</p>
|
