<h2>406. THE GOOD SAMARITAN'S ACTION IN REGARD<br />
TO THE MAN WHO FELL AMONG THIEVES</h2>
<p>There are many thoughts which are suggested if we take the Good Samaritan as a type of Christ (<a id="fem406-si1" onclick="return mV('Luk',10,'30-37');">Luk 10:30-37</a>).</p>
<p>1. <b>Condescension of the Good Samaritan.</b> "He came where he was" (<a id="fem406-si2" onclick="return mV('Luk',10,33);">Luk 10:33</a>), unlike those who passed by on the other side. In like manner Christ came where we were.</p>
<ul type="none">
<li>He came to our <i>humanity</i>, and took it upon Him (<a id="fem406-si3" onclick="return mV('Hbr',2,14);">Hbr 2:14</a>).</li>
<li>He came to our <i>sorrow</i>, and became acquainted with it (<a id="fem406-si4" onclick="return mV('Isa',53,4);">Isa 53:4</a>);</li>
<li>He came to our <i>death</i>, and died it (<a id="fem406-si5" onclick="return mV('1Pe',3,18);">1Pe 3:18</a>);</li>
<li>He came to our <i>sin</i>, and bore it (<a id="fem406-si6" onclick="return mV('2Cr',5,21);">2Cr 5:21</a>);</li>
<li>He came to our <i>curse</i>, and passed through it (<a id="fem406-si7" onclick="return mV('Gal',3,13);">Gal 3:13</a>);</li>
<li>He came to our <i>woe</i>, and endured it (<a id="fem406-si8" onclick="return mV('Hbr',12,2);">Hbr 12:2</a>);
<br> and</li>
<li>He came to our <i>lowness</i>, to lift us out of it (<a id="fem406-si9" onclick="return mV('Phl',2,8);">Phl 2:8</a>).</li>
</ul>
<p>2. <b>Compassion of the Good Samaritan.</b> "He had compassion on him" (<a id="fem406-si10" onclick="return mV('Luk',10,33);">Luk 10:33</a>). Repeatedly we read of Christ being moved with compassion in His life, but the compassion of His compassion was, when He took pity upon us, as He saw us in our sin (<a id="fem406-si11" onclick="return mV('Eze',16,8);">Eze 16:8</a>), and died on our account (<a id="fem406-si12" onclick="return mV('Rom',5,6,7,8);">Rom 5:6-8</a>), for as David had compassion on Mephibosheth, and brought him to his own house (<a id="fem406-si13" onclick="return mV('2Sa',9,'1-');">2Sa 9</a>), so Christ has had compassion upon us, in dying to meet our need.</p>
<p>3. <b>Care of the Good Samaritan.</b> There are seven things the Good Samaritan did for the man.
<ul>
<li>He "<i>went to him</i>." He did not send a deputy to do his work. So with Christ.

<li>He sustains (<a id="fem406-si16" onclick="return mV('Isa',41,10);">Isa 41:10</a>).</li>
<li>He accompanies (<a id="fem406-si17" onclick="return mV('Exd',33,14);">Exd 33:14</a>),

<li>He keeps (<a id="fem406-si18" onclick="return mV('Jud',1,24);">Jud 1:24</a>).</li>
</ul>
</li>

<br>

<li>He "<i>bound up his wounds</i>." So with Christ.
