<h2>357. SEVEN MOMENTS</h2>
|
|
<p>The smallest fraction of time is of importance with the Lord, and where God speaks of "moments," it either indicates the constancy of His care, or the quickness of an action.</p>
|
|
<p>1. <b>Forsaking.</b> "For a small <i>moment</i> have I forsaken thee"…"In a little wrath I hid My face from thee for a <i>moment</i>" (<a id="fem357-si1" onclick="return mV('Isa',54,7,8);">Isa 54:7-8</a>). When the Lord forsakes His people, there is some cause in them for His so doing, but He cannot forsake them for long.</p>

<p>2. <b>Protecting.</b> "Hide thyself as it were for a little <i>moment</i>, until the indignation be over-past" (<a id="fem357-si2" onclick="return mV('Isa',26,20);">Isa 26:20</a>). God ever protects His people first, before He acts in judgment to the world. Noah must be in the ark before the flood comes; and Israel must be protected by the blood of the Pascal Lamb, before the angel of Jehovah smites the first-born.</p>

<p>3. <b>Keeping.</b> "I, the Lord, do keep it. I will water it every <i>moment</i>" (<a id="fem357-si3" onclick="return mV('Isa',27,3);">Isa 27:3</a>). He will keep the vineyard from all evil, and keep it to all good.</p>
|
|
<p>4. <b>Trying.</b> "Try him every <i>moment</i>" (<a id="fem357-si4" onclick="return mV('Job',7,18);">Job 7:18</a>). The Lord never allows the rust of worldliness to remain on His people. He brightens them by His word, and sharpens them by His grace.</p>
|
|
<p>5. <b>Tempting.</b> "The devil…shewed unto Him all the kingdoms of the world in a <i>moment</i> of time" (<a id="fem357-si5" onclick="return mV('Luk',4,5);">Luk 4:5</a>). We have little conception of the power which Satan possesses, but, when he can, in a moment of time, bring before one the kingdoms of the world, his power must be enormous.</p>

<p>6. <b>Affliction.</b> "Our light affliction, which is but for a <i>moment</i>" (<a id="fem357-si6" onclick="return mV('2Cr',4,17);">2Cr 4:17</a>). The "affliction" is "light," and only for a "moment"; but the "glory" is weighty and "eternal."</p>

<p>7. <b>Transformation.</b> "We shall all be changed, in a <i>moment</i>" (<a id="fem357-si7" onclick="return mV('1Cr',15,51,52);">1Cr 15:51-52</a>). The change will be so rapid that there will be no time to think about it.</p>
