<h2>343. SAVIOUR OF LIFE OR DEATH</h2>
<h2><a id="fem343-si1" onclick="return mV('2Co',2,16);">2 CORINTHIANS 2:16</a></h2>
<p>Christ is one of two things to all. He is either the Stone on which we are broken in penitence and to salvation, or He is the Stone to grind in pieces unto punishment and condemnation (<a id="fem343-si2" onclick="return mV('Luk',20,18);">Luk 20:18</a>). This is brought out in the following sevenfold contrasts:</p>
<p>1. The pillar of cloud was <b>light</b> to Israel, and <b>darkness</b> to the Egyptians (<a id="fem343-si3" onclick="return mV('Exd',14,20);">Exd 14:20</a>).</p>
<p>2. The ways of the Lord are to walk in for our <b>blessing</b>, or ways to stumble in to our <b>hurt</b> (<a id="fem343-si4" onclick="return mV('Hsa',14,9);">Hsa 14:9</a>).</p>
<p>3. God is a <b>consuming fire</b> to <b>purify</b> His people (<a id="fem343-si5" onclick="return mV('Mal',3,3);">Mal 3:3</a>), and a <b>burning fire</b> to <b>scorch</b> His enemies (<a id="fem343-si6" onclick="return mV('Mal',4,1);">Mal 4:1</a>).</p>
<p>4. Christ is <b>life</b> to those who receive Him (<a id="fem343-si7" onclick="return mV('Jhn',3,36);">Jhn 3:36</a>), while He is <b>wrath</b> to those who reject Him (<a id="fem343-si8" onclick="return mV('Rev',6,16);">Rev 6:16</a>).</p>
<p>5. Christ is the <b>Chief Corner-stone</b> to those who rest on Him in faith for salvation (<a id="fem343-si9" onclick="return mV('1Pe',2,6);">1Pe 2:6</a>), while He is a <b>Stone</b> of <b>Stumbling</b> to those who will not have Him (<a id="fem343-si10" onclick="return mV('1Pe',2,8);">1Pe 2:8</a>).</p>
<p>6. Christ is <b>precious</b> to those who believe (<a id="fem343-si11" onclick="return mV('1Pe',2,7);">1Pe 2:7</a>), while He is <b>despised</b> by those who neglect Him (<a id="fem343-si12" onclick="return mV('Isa',53,3);">Isa 53:3</a>).</p>
<p>7. When Christ comes He brings <b>eternal rest</b> for His people, but He gives <b>eternal destruction</b> to those who have not obeyed the Gospel (<a id="fem343-si13" onclick="return mV('2Th',1,6,7);">2Th 1:6-7</a>).</p>
