Since believers have to live in this godless world system there are things which we should and should not do.

Strangers

We must always remember that this world is not our home.

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God's elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia (1Pe 1:1).

We are called strangers in this world. This world system is not the home of the believer.

Sent into the World

Jesus said in His prayer to God the Father.

As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world (Jhn 17:18).

Good Works

While in this world we are to maintain good works.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men (Tts 3:8).

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us to good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith (Gal 6:10).

Light of the World

Jesus commanded us to let our light shine while in this world.

You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill (Mat 5:14-16).

Salt of the Earth

We are also told to be the salt of the earth.

You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot (Mat 5:13).

Summary

This world system is not the home of the believer. We are called strangers in this world. Believers are sent into this present world system to do the Lord's work. Since we have to live in this world we should be the light of the world and the salt of the earth.
