<p>Angels were also busy ministering to people after the time of Christ. As we look at the history of the early church, we also find angels ministering to God's people.
|
|
|
|
<p><b>Appeared To Philip</b>
|
|
<p>An angel appeared to Philip and directed him toward the Ethiopian eunuch.
|
|
<blockquote><p>Then the angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Get up and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." (This is a wilderness road.) (<a id="nbi21-si1" onClick="return mV('Act',8,26);">Act 8:26</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>Cornelius</b>
|
|
<p>When a Gentile believer named Cornelius wanted to know more about the Lord, an angel was sent to him.
|
|
<blockquote><p>There was a man named Cornelius who lived in Caesarea—a centurion of the Italian Cohort, as it was called. He was a devout man who feared God with all his household. He gave alms generously to the people and prayed constantly to God. About three o'clock on one afternoon he had a vision in which he clearly saw an angel of God coming in and saying to him, "Cornelius" (<a id="nbi21-si2" onClick="return mV('Act',10,'1-3');">Act 10:1-3</a>).</p></blockquote>

<p>We find an angel coming to Cornelius as an answer to his prayer. The angel instructed Cornelius to send for Simon Peter who would tell him the message of Jesus the Christ.
|
|
|
|
<p><b>Peter in Jail</b>
|
|
<p>The Bible says that an angel helped get the Apostle Peter out of jail.
|
|
<blockquote><p>And when Peter had come to himself, he said, "Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people" (<a id="nbi21-si3" onClick="return mV('Act',12,11);">Act 12:11</a>).</p></blockquote>

<p><b>Herod Killed by an Angel</b>
|
|
<p>The evil king Herod was killed by an angel.
|
|
<blockquote><p>And immediately, because he had not given the glory to God, the angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died (<a id="nbi21-si4" onClick="return mV('Act',12,23);">Act 12:23</a>).</p></blockquote>

|
|
<p><b>Encouraged Paul</b>
|
|
<p>An angel encouraged Paul when he faced a storm on his way to Rome.
|
|
<blockquote><p>For last night there stood by me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship (<a id="nbi21-si5" onClick="return mV('Act',27,23);">Act 27:23</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
|
|
<p><b>Church Testifies to Angels</b>
|
|
<p>As angels ministered to certain believers in the early church, the church unveiled God's wisdom to the angels.
|
|
<blockquote><p>so that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places (<a id="nbi21-si6" onClick="return mV('Eph',3,10);">Eph 3:10</a>).</p></blockquote>
|
|
<p></b>The divine grace which God shows toward humanity will be observed by angels,
|
|
|
|
<p><b>Summary</b>
|
|
<p>The ministry of angels did not stop with the ascension of Jesus. During its early period, when the church was growing, we find angels ministering to God's people. In addition, the church itself is a testimony to angels of the wisdom of God.</p>
