<div class="SSN_rnum">I. "THE WORD WHICH GOD SENT TO ISRAEL."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Peter is preaching to a Gentile audience, and he declares that the word was sent to children of Israel.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. When Jesus sent the 12 out to witness of Him, He commanded them:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',10,5);">MAT 10:5</a> These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into [any] city of the Samaritans enter ye not:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',10,6);">MAT 10:6</a> But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',10,7);">MAT 10:7</a> And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',10,8);">MAT 10:8</a> Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. When the woman from Syrophonicia came to Him for healing for her daughter, and the disciples asked Jesus to take care of her because she was bugging them Jesus responded: "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." It should be noted however that He did heal her daughter.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. Paul in his letter to the Romans said that he was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it was the power of God to those that believed, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">4. When Paul and Barnabas were on their first missionary journey and had come to Antioch in Pisidia, they preached in the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and following Sabbath day almost the whole city had gathered so that the Jews became jealous and began to speak against the things Paul had been teaching and began to contradict and blaspheme so that:</div>

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Act', 13,46);">ACS 13:46</a> Paul and Barnabas became very bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.</div>

<div class="SSN_level3">5. In Corinth Paul began his ministry to the Jews.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Act',18,5);">ACS 18:5</a> And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews [that] Jesus [was] Christ.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Act',18,6);">ACS 18:6</a> And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook [his] raiment, and said unto them, Your blood [be] upon your own heads; I [am] clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">6. Yet the scriptures spoke of the gospel being taken to the Gentiles. When Jesus heard that the Pharisees held a council plotting to destroy Him.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',12,15);">MAT 12:15</a> But when Jesus knew [it], he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',12,16);">MAT 12:16</a> And charged them that they should not make him known:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',12,17);">MAT 12:17</a> That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',12,18);">MAT 12:18</a> Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',12,19);">MAT 12:19</a> He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',12,20);">MAT 12:20</a> A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',12,21);">MAT 12:21</a> And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">7. Jesus Himself spoke of how when the Jews rejected the invitation to the feast that the Lord would gather from among the Gentiles guests for the feast, that it might be filled.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,33);">MAT 21:33</a> Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,34);">MAT 21:34</a> And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,35);">MAT 21:35</a> And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,36);">MAT 21:36</a> Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,37);">MAT 21:37</a> But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,38);">MAT 21:38</a> But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,39);">MAT 21:39</a> And they caught him, and cast [him] out of the vineyard, and slew [him].</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,40);">MAT 21:40</a> When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,41);">MAT 21:41</a> They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out [his] vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.</div>
|

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,42);">MAT 21:42</a> Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?</div>

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',21,43);">MAT 21:43</a> Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,1);">MAT 22:1</a> And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,2);">MAT 22:2</a> The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,3);">MAT 22:3</a> And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,4);">MAT 22:4</a> Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and [my] fatlings [are] killed, and all things [are] ready: come unto the marriage.</div>

<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,5);">MAT 22:5</a> But they made light of [it], and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,6);">MAT 22:6</a> And the remnant took his servants, and entreated [them] spitefully, and slew [them].</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,7);">MAT 22:7</a> But when the king heard [thereof], he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,8);">MAT 22:8</a> Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,9);">MAT 22:9</a> Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Mat',22,10);">MAT 22:10</a> So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">8. Paul's teachings concerning these things.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',11,11);">ROM 11:11</a> I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but [rather] through their fall salvation [is come] unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',11,12);">ROM 11:12</a> Now if the fall of them [be] the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',11,13);">ROM 11:13</a> For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',11,20);">ROM 11:20</a> Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',11,28);">ROM 11:28</a> As concerning the gospel, [they are] enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, [they are] beloved for the fathers' sakes.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',15,8);">ROM 15:8</a> Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises [made] unto the fathers:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',16,26);">ROM 16:26</a> But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_rnum">II. WHAT WAS THE WORD GOD SENT TO ISRAEL? PREACHING PEACE BY JESUS CHRIST.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. The natural man is at war with God.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Isaiah said, "Woe unto him who strives with his Maker."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Paul wrote:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',8,7);">ROM 8:7</a> Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',5,10);">ROM 5:10</a> For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. James wrote:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Jam',4,4);">JAM 4:4</a> Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. Through Jesus Christ we now have peace with God.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rom',5,1);">ROM 5:1</a> Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',2,14);">EPH 2:14</a> For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us];</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Col',1,20);">COL 1:20</a> And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, [I say], whether [they be] things in earth, or things in heaven.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Paul wrote of our being reconciled to God through Jesus.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',2,12);">EPH 2:12</a> That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',2,13);">EPH 2:13</a> But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',2,14);">EPH 2:14</a> For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us];</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',2,15);">EPH 2:15</a> Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',2,16);">EPH 2:16</a> And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Eph',2,17);">EPH 2:17</a> And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',5,17);">2CO 5:17</a> Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',5,18);">2CO 5:18</a> And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',5,19);">2CO 5:19</a> To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('2Cr',5,20);">2CO 5:20</a> Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech [you] by us: we pray [you] in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_rnum">III. "HE IS LORD OF ALL."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">A. Concerning Jesus, Paul wrote:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('1Ti',6,15);">1TI 6:15</a> Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">B. John wrote of the second coming of Jesus and said:</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rev',19,13);">REV 19:13</a> And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_verse"><a onClick="return mV('Rev',19,16);">REV 19:16</a> And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">C. Paul speaks of that day when every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level2">D. This is the big question today, "Is He the Lord of your life?"</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">1. Someone has said He is Lord of all, or Lord not at all.</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">2. Jesus once asked, "Why do you call me Lord, and yet you do not the things that I command you."</div>
|
|
<div class="SSN_level3">3. He said a day is coming when many shall call Him Lord, and tell of the things that they did in His name, yet He will deny every knowing them.</div>
|
|
</div>
