Whom Are We Supposed to Forgive?

The Bible says we are supposed to forgive everyone.

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you (Eph 4:32).

What about those who do not forgive us? We have no control over other people's feelings. We should do all that we can but we cannot force them to forgive us.

Complete

Forgiveness should be complete.

Jesus taught that we are supposed to forgive people as often as they ask for it:

If a person sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive them (Luk 17:4).

Jesus answered, I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times (Mat 18:22).

Summary

Therefore, we are to forgive people completely and then forget the sin they committed against us. We are not to bring it up again because God has forgiven them and has forgotten their sin.
