The Old Testament predicted that the Christ would be a prophet. The Lord said to Moses.

I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. It shall come about that whoever will not listen to my words which he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him (Deu 18:18-19).

Jesus Confirmed That He Was a Prophet

The gospels confirm that Jesus believed that He was a prophet.

And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household" (Mat 13:57).

The People Knew He Was a Prophet

The people considered Jesus to be a prophet.

And they said, "Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets (Mat 16:14).

The crowds in Jerusalem testified that Jesus was a prophet.

The crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee" (Mat 21:11).

Again the crowd realized that Jesus was a prophet.

When they heard these words, some in the crowd said, "This is really the Prophet" (Jhn 7:40).

The Woman in Samaria Knew Jesus Was a Prophet

The woman in Samaria perceived Jesus as a prophet.

The woman said to him, "Sir, I see that you are a prophet (Jhn 4:19).

The Testimony of John That Jesus Was a Prophet

John testified that Jesus was a prophet.

"But among you there are some who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the first who were the ones that did not believe, and who was the one that would betray him (Jhn 6:14).

The Blind Man That Jesus Healed Recognized That He Was a Prophet

The blind man that Jesus healed realized that He was a prophet.

So they said again to the blind man, "What do you say about him? It was your eyes he opened." He said, "He is a prophet." (Jhn 9:17).

The Testimony of Peter

Peter said that Jesus was a prophet.

Moses said, "The Lord your God will raise up for you from your own people a prophet like me. You must listen to whatever he tells you" (Act 3:22).

The Martyr Stephen Testified to Jesus' Prophetic Status

The martyr Stephen testified that Jesus was a prophet.

This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, "God will raise up a prophet for you from your own brothers as he raised me up" (Act 7:37).
