91. "COME"

Note some of the "comes" of Christ as illustrating the fulness and freeness of His Gospel.

1. Regard. "Come down" (Luk 19:5).

2. Rest. "Come unto Me, and I will give you rest" (Mat 11:28).

3. Refreshment. "Come and drink" (Jhn 7:37). "Come and take" (Rev 22:17).

4. Re-animation. "Come forth" (Jhn 11:43).

5. Responsibility. "Come after Me" (Mar 8:34).

6. Reward. "Cometh to Me shall never hunger" (Jhn 6:35).

7. Response. "Come and see" (Jhn 1:39).

Mr. Spurgeon says of the last come, this is a "loving invitation," and says, "At the beginning of the Gospel, Christ said, 'Come and see;' at the close, 'Come and dine.' The first is for babes in Christ, the second for strong men."
