The presence of the Lord to His people means:—
1. Light in trouble. "Lord, lift Thou up the light of Thy countenance upon us" (Psa 4:6).
2. Joy in sorrow. "In Thy presence is fulness of joy" (Psa 16:11).
3. Hiding in persecution. "Thou shalt hide them in the secret of Thy presence" (Psa 31:20).
4. Help in discouragement. "I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance" (Psa 42:5).
5. Health in disquietude. "Who is the health of my countenance and my God" (Psa 42:11).
6. Encouragement in life. "His countenance doth behold the upright" (Psa 11:7).
7. Gladness in responsibility. "Thou hast made him exceeding glad with Thy countenance" (Psa 21:6).
