As the man-slayer had something to escape from, namely, the avenger, so the sinner has need to escape from—
1. The curse of a broken law (Gal 3:10).
2. The justice of God (Exd 34:7).
3. The consequences of sin (Hbr 10:26-27).
4. The wrath to come (1Th 1:10).
5. The guilt of sin (Rom 3:19).
6. The dominion of sin (Rom 6:16).
7. The love of sin (Jhn 3:19).
8. The power of darkness (Col 1:13).
