• God's Righteousness Demands Perfection
  • In regard to holiness — "Be ye holy for I am holy"
  • Through conscience — Conscience gives us the fact of morality
  • Through law — Law gives us the content of morality
  • The law cannot save because:
    • We have a fallen nature opposed to God's law — Rom 8:5-7

      • Righteousness by law (works) means total obedience and perfect goodness.
      • Righteousness by law means permanent obedience, not temporary — we must keep the whole law all of our lives
    • We are already sinners
      • We are already condemned — Jhn 3:18
      • If we lived perfectly from now on it would not take care of our past
  • Self-righteousness is not acceptable to God's Tit 3:5
• God's Righteousness Demands Punishment
  • The nature of sin
    • Sin is selfishness
    • Sin is rebellion
  • The punishment for sin
    • Physical death — eternal
    • Spiritual death — eternal
  • The results of sin
    • Separates us from God
    • Renders us spiritually dead
    • Opens our life to evil
• God's Righteousness Is Revealed
  • Through His law
  • Through His Son — Rom 1:17
    • The sinless life
    • The sacrificial death
